5 Ways the Arthur Murray Pep Rally Boosts Progress

"A goal without a plan is just a wish."

French author, Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry certainly didn't realize it at the time, but his quote has become a mainstay for anyone in the planning, motivation and progress industry.

Like Arthur Murray people.

A few years back, the Arthur Murray Live studios put together an event that puts Antoine's message into perfect use.  The Pep Rally Showcase is the perfect event for your dance goals, especially if you don't want them to drift into dance wishes, or worse.

Here are 5 Ways the Arthur Murray Pep Rally Boosts Dance Progress

1.  The Calendar

Summer can sometimes melt away dance progress like a popsicle on your dashboard.  Having a fun deadline you're working towards will keep that momentum building instead of fading.

The Pep Rally is strategically scheduled to keep your summer dance development rising like your patio thermometer.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 7th.

2.  Strength in Numbers

The Pep Rally is a freestyle event.  This means that each time you'll dance, there will be others on the floor with you.

While a solo routine can feel like a rite of passage in your confidence development, a freestyle is a sneaky way to gain the same confidence, but without the nerves of performing by yourself.

3.  Feedback

The Pep Rally is a feedback event.  So each and every entry you dance, there will be feedback from our visiting judges. This is a smart way for you and your teachers to spot your progress and pinpoint areas of improvement.

Pro Tip:  Try dancing every dance at least twice to see how the feedback improves as you get more settled in.

4.  Your Graduation

If you have a goal to graduate to the next level at the Medal Ball in August, then treat the Pep Rally as your practice test.  This event will include Closed Freestyles, with movements restricted to your dance level from the syllabus.  Just like your graduation.

Pro Tip:  A short combination of syllabus figures from your level is a great way to fast track your confidence for both the Pep Rally and your Medal Ball graduation.

5.  Routine:  Build, Refine, Pressure Test

Learning a dance routine is one of the best ways to fast track your style, performance skills, and poise on the dance floor.

The Pep Rally includes Open Freestyles as part of the event.  This, essentially, gives you a perfect way to showcase your scripted, routine work all without the need for a solo performance.

This allows you and your teachers to begin to build your choreographed freestyles, refine them, or pressure test them for a future event.

Pro Tip:  Even at a solo routine event like Extravaganza, you only get one chance to perform any one of your solos. Doing an Open Freestyle gives you a chance to dance your routines multiple times.

Final Thought

The Pep Rally has become a new staple in our dance event calendar.  As much as we love to create events that are fun, we also love that this event serves a great purpose.

Whether you call it your Medal Ball prep, a dance routine upgrade, or a springboard in summer, just don't let it become an event you wished you would have signed up for.
