It hasn't been that long since the incredible dance weekend we refer to as the District Showcase, but it's definitely worth looking back on.

We caught up with some of our judging panel to find out what stood out to them the most, and how they'd describe what they saw.

Dance Consultants and Their Thoughts on the 2017 District Showcase

How would you describe the District Showcase to someone who wasn't there?

"Two of the most energetic and fun days you could ever have with your dancing, and while sharing it with so many others with the same passion!"  Jimmy Mulligan

"It's a two day party where the students get to show off all their achievements and get valuable feedback to help grow their dancing to even higher heights.

It's also a weekend of inspiration because you get to see some amazing dancing from your fellow students, the local district teachers, and a special show by a top professional couple. I think in the end 'PARTY' is the operative word though.  If you like dancing and fun you better not miss the next one."

Jessica Holty

"Nearly 10,000 entries means a dance marathon of fun and a chance to connect with great people, and express yourself for two full days."

-Victoria Regan

"It's an event where dancers of all ages and levels from the local area come together for a friendly dance competition....kind of like the sports league.  Each school bring their fans and support their students and teachers!"

- Tonia Kosovich

"Chuck Norris only has one regret - that he wasn't there.  I don't think he intends to make that mistake again."

- Dani Atkins

What do you think was the biggest benefit to the students who participated?

"
The most amazing sense of achievement, a new found level of confidence.  They simply evolve overnight!

- Tonia Kosovich

"An amazing sense of accomplishment, community bonding, horizon expansion, and the euphoria experienced only through dancing Viennese Waltz to the Game of Thrones theme music."

- Dani Atkins

"Confidence!!!!  Especially for the Newcomers.  They took on something they never knew they could do, and did it."

- Jimmy Mulligan

"A great dance experience, and learning how much support there was from fellow dancers and teachers."

-Victoria Regan.

"This list could go on and on.  Confidence, higher dance skill levels, stamina, fitness, inspiration, dance friendships and camaraderie, goals, a break from the stresses of everyday life, a sense of achievement, quality time with their loved ones, maybe a new dress from LeNique, the knowledge that the Marriott makes a killer tiramisu, or an opportunity to donate to an amazing cause. It was an amazing weekend."

- Jessica Holty

If you had to pick just one thing, what was your favorite part of the District Showcase?

"Certainly one of the highlights was raising money for the Alzheimer's Association!  $11,000!!!!  The formations were also very impressive."

- Victoria Regan

"What wasn't my favorite moment? Wow, it was all spectacular! But, from a judges viewpoint, I guess watching every participant look more and more confident and excited with every dance they danced. That transformation was awesome!"

- Dani Atkins

"It was a toss up between the evening portion where everyone donated so generously to the Longest Day foundation for Alzheimer's, and the very last heat where everyone was having so much fun they just kept right on dancing after the heat was over.  It was amazing energy.

- Jessica Holty

"It was the same for me last year, and that was the amateur 3 dance event - which is a "newish" category.  To watch the students walk out onto the floor with their amateur partners, and give it everything they have and, in particular, the support that the audience gave them, was amazing."

"It reminded me of when I had the opportunity to judge the England University Dance Championships - it was like being at the Super Bowl - the atmosphere was electric and the students really lifted to the occasion!"

Tonia Kosovich

Pushing play on the first heat. It was electric!  Seeing 32 couples on the floor, and even for a Country 2 Step?  Wow and awesome."

- Jimmy Mulligan

Can you sum up your District Showcase experience in one sentence?

"A jam-packed, fun-filled, dance marathon with time to enjoy great dancing, great food and great friends!"

- Tonia Kosovich

"Two of the most energetic and fun days you could ever have with you're dancing while sharing it with so many others sharing in the same passion!"

- Jimmy Mulligan

"Absolutely electric with energy, teamwork, and talent from all levels and styles."

- Victoria Regan

"It's one heck of a two day dance party."

- Jessica Holty
