Dozens of Arthur Murray Professionals will converge in Hayward, California for the Quarterfinal Round of the George B. Theiss All Star Competition - a global skills challenge.
While every dance instructor, studio executive, or administrator has already accomplished a lot by advancing to this round, there are some that merit some additional interest. Here is a collection of 5 Professionals that have some history with the All Stars, and offer an interesting narrative going into the 2016 competition.
While he is no stranger in the instructor category, Alexis recently became the Supervisor of the new Arthur Murray Stockton location. This will be the first, of many, times competing as an executive. He brings a database of teaching information that should allow him to fare well in the testing.
While working in the Carmichael location, Yajenny advanced all the way to the Championship Finals as a Rookie. Now she's in a new location, Folsom, and competing in a new category, New Student Specialist. We think her experience in the testing process gives her an edge in the quarterfinal round.
Evan has been a part of two winning All Star teams, once as a teacher, once as a Supervisor. This year, Evan Healy is competing in a new category, New Student Counselor. Facing stiff competition, Evan's time in the All Star Finals adds a level of poise that few can say they have.
We wrote about Oscar after taking the MVP Award as part of the Championship team in Las Vegas in 2015. They say that the hardest thing in sports is to repeat after a big award, and Oscar looks to buck that trend as he heads into the Quarterfinal round looking to advance all the way to the top.
This year, the usual Administrative representative, Brienne Thompson, will not be available for the testing. This opens a door, that has otherwise been firmly shut, for another Admin to take the reigns. Charlotte Keezer, Office Manager in Walnut Creek, has placed second to Brienne the last three years, and keep a close eye on her going into the Quarterfinal round.
Joey has logged plenty of minutes in every round of the All Star Competition. This multiple winner was the New Student Counselor in the winning All Star team in Las Vegas in 2015, and looks to continue that trend facing some of the stiffest competition in his category to date.

As big, and exciting, as the Arthur Murray All Star Competition is, there is a competition that is far greater, and definitely more important. This competition occurs every day, in every single Arthur Murray location around the world, and it's been happening ever since Arthur Murray started the company in 1912.
Teaching students.
To make dancing accessible to those that have the greatest doubts. To relentlessly pursue new ways of teaching to deliver results in an easy and effective way. To set goals that exist on and off of the dance floor.
The students are what an Arthur Murray Professional cares about more than anything, and the All Star test is just one way we can all keep score.
