Jules Riviello: The New Counselor in Arthur Murray Redwood City 

Jules Riviello has made quite an impact in Arthur Murray Redwood City since she started, and that has earned her a promotion to the New Student Counselor executive position.  

This is no small feat as Redwood City has one of the busiest new student departments in the Arthur Murray organization, Riviello - hand picked by Chris and Daisey Lynam - helps to continue a wonderful executive legacy in the peninsula.  

We caught up with Jules to find out how it all transpired and her thoughts on this next step in her career.  

AML: Ok, be honest, what was your first response when you got the news of this promotion?

JR: Well, when it was first brought up to me, I have to admit that I was completely surprised. I had all of those thoughts:

"Who, me?" "You think that I can do that?".

It was something that I had wanted for myself - I didn't expect it to happen this soon in my career - but I wouldn't have it any other way. When Daisey offered me the position officially, I have to be honest I'm surprised I didn't burst into tears. I was so excited even to be considered, and now that the hard work has paid off, it's honestly so humbling. So to answer your question (since I already gave you a long answer), I feel incredibly honored, humbled, and excited all at once.

AML: How has the Redwood City team responded?

JR: So far it's under wraps, but I'm hoping it will be positive. I just want to be here for them.

AML: What do you hope to bring to the new student department?

JR: More new students! (Always) I hope to continue to bring clarity and ease to our new student department. Arthur Murray is built on "Fun, Quick, and Easy" and I hope to carry that along for the front department students and staff. I never want anyone to feel like their questions haven't been answered, or like their program is unmanageable. I'm going to do the best I can to help everyone feel secure

AML: What's the first thing you're looking forward to in this new chapter?

JR: I'm looking forward to being there for my team, and for our students. I've been craving the extra responsibility; I want more solely so I can be of more service to our team and student body. I'm excited to help people get started in their dancing and to help the front department staff have success with their programs. They are so talented, and I always want their hard work to pay off.

AML: Who are some people that have been helpful along the way?

JR: I'd like to thank pretty much everyone: Brienne, Annaliza, and Evan, thank you for starting my training, for having my back, for calling me on things when I needed guidance. Thank you for everything you do. Alex, thank you for trusting me. The leadership team of AMLive, thank you for being my colleagues, you all inspire me every to be better and continue to push through.

Chris and Daisey, you've been more helpful then I can even express. Thank you for seeing me through some of my tough moments. Thank you for always believing in me.

I'd also like to thank my parents, who could've easily told me, "you'll never make a living without a degree or as a dance teacher," but who did nothing but the opposite. They told me to go for it, always, and for that, I am extremely thankful, because I am here today.

AML: What message would you like to share the current and future students in RWC?

JR: I'm here because of you all. My life is fulfilling, and so rich in beautiful experiences, and I get to have those because of our students. And now, I am here for you. I want all of the students to feel taken care of, and I know as a team we will do our best to do that.
