You may have had a lesson with him, or watched him float past you dancing a Quickstep with his partner Katia, but it's time you got to know Arthur Murray Consultant, Rudy Homm, a little bit better.

What You Didn't Know About Arthur Murray Consultant, Rudy Homm

Name:  Rudiger Homm - "Rudy"

Occupation: An International Arthur Murray traveling consultant

AML:  How did dancing end up in your life?

RUDY: My parents always wished that my brother and I get some basic dance education because they enjoy dancing a lot. They believed we should be comfortable on the dance floor at parties and weddings. I started at the age of 9, and was lucky to have a great teacher who motivated me, and soon a hobby became something much more important.

AML: What are some dance accomplishments you are most proud of?

RUDY: There are many results that are very important and satisfying, such as winning the German Closed, winning the Arthur Murray championships, but though the years the most memorable moment so far is winning the under 21 Blackpool standard championship - since we were the first German couple to ever win this event.
As an Arthur Murray teacher I am also quite happy to have had the opportunity to lead one student from very beginning to a World Champion in her Pro-Am division within 6 years, and to have won the top teacher award at various DOR’s.

AML: How did you first get started with Arthur Murray?

RUDY: I first joined the Arthur Murray in London, UK because at the time i just moved there and was looking for a job. Augusto Schiavo and John Kimmims referred me to that studio, and that's how I started.

AML: What do you think sets Arthur Murray apart from other dance studios?

RUDY: I always feel that being in AM is great because you are a part of a big family and as a teacher you have an incredible opportunity to make an impact in people’s lives.

AML: What's the advice you love to share with dance students?

RUDY: My favorite advice is to learn to exaggerate newly learned moves since they don’t feel natural in the beginning. This mental flexibility opens many new doors.

Final Thought
There are people you meet that instantly change the energy in the room.  Rudy is one of those guys.  He also possesses one of the most elusive skills known to dance experts around the world - the ability to put his student's ability on display without overtaking the spotlight himself.  Due to their travel and competition schedule, we don't get to see Rudy and Katia very often.  When you do get a chance to meet them, prepare yourself.

You won't want them to leave.
